Boy falls in love with his roommate. Roommate may or may not feel the same way. It's a whirlwind of romance, misunderstanding, and video games, all culminating at the event of events, an Anime convention known as...Hurricane Party.
THE WHERE
Hurricane Party is set on the campus of a fictional institution known as Spring University, somewhere south of Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast.
THE WHO
Dorm-mates Trock and Byte reside in Dorm BA56 on the Spring U campus. Next door live their female co-conspirators, Jo and Charlotte, in Dorm BA54. See the cast page for futher info on this motley crew. HP is drawn and written by Shadow Omega, and colored (sporadically) by Icykia Indigo
THE WHEN
Hurricane Party has a problem with updating regularly, as in sticking to a specific schedule. I can guarantee you one comic every week, at the very least, depending on whether I'm feeling manic or lethargic. I can't guarantee what day it will show up. It's like some big gay lottery! Whee! Otherwise, I'll try to stick to Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays (maybe all three if you WIN BIG!)
THE HOW
It's a quirky little romance that will have a definite beginning, middle, and end. Though I have no idea how long the story will take to tell, the plans are already in motion. Hurricane Party may evolve into a serial strip after the conclusion of its "prologue", if you will...we'll see what the fanbase says, provided there is a fanbase at all. ^_^
THE WHY
After months of burying my nose in the pages of collaborative efforts and sprawling multi-arc series, I wanted to break off and develop a simple, self-contained story. The inspiration (which I originally mis-spelled as 'sinspiration'--wholly fitting, all things considered) came from reading, which was something I had not done for a long, long while. The primary book that influenced my creative frustration was Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite. Since I channel enthusiasm in very twisted ways, I churned out two pieces of fanart for the story, one of each of the two main characters, Trevor and Zach. The style in those two pictures was very blatantly stolen from Ian McConville over at Mac Hall, which has, over the months, engulfed far too much of my attention. Whether I knew it or not (hint: I didn't), the seeds of Hurricane Party had already been planted.
A bout of the usual insomnia gripped me in the early morning of March 20, 2002, and things just started to happen. Within a week, I had ten strips in the can and a website well underway. Hurricane Party was officially born, under the dual influence of college geek webcomic and neo-gothic horror novel.
